SPIROVA, E. M. SYMBOL IN N. A. BERDYAEV’S INTERPRETATION

Abstract: The article analyzes N. A. Berdyaev’s saying that “culture is the greatest failure of the mankind”. By explaining this saying which may seem quite paradoxical, the author showed that culture had a great transcendental meaning. According to N. A. Berdyaev, culture is full of symbols which connect people with the transcendence. It is even possible to substitute for spirituality with a symbol. However, the true mission of a symbol is to be an identification sign of spirituality.
