Abstract: The process of introduction of the peacemaking as an institution became a lawful consequence of development of the powers of the Security Council of the UN. The peacemaking is not included into the UN Charter, but it did appear within the process of activities of the Security Council on ensuring international peace and security, and it continues to develop. This article is devoted to analysis of the process of formation of this institution, as well as the definition of peace-making, the author also attempts to classify peace-making operations.
