Abstract: The article defines the idea of universal competences schooled in the students of the jurisprudence personnel training program. Some level of formed universal competences prepares the students for teaching practice in institutions of higher education and promotes professional training of the future police officers. The author also describes the very process of professional competences formation which prepare the students for teaching branches of jurisprudence. To inculcate universal competences into the future law teachers, educational institutions within the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia use empirical methods of educating: competence evaluation via various tasks (elocution, a theme on a teaching profession and a teacher’s role on the modern world), practical tasks (searching, collecting and processing the information from different sources, using the systems approach to solve tasks), interviewing, which is aimed at finding out the motivation for the profession of a teacher. These circumstances help inculcate universal competences in the students of the academic personnel training program in the field of jurisprudence. The level of universal competences prepares the students for teaching practice in institutions of higher education and promotes the professional training improvement of the future police officers. The priority is to train academic personnel for teaching in educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
