Abstract: This article is devoted to the analysis of the English terminology of aircraft engines. The subject of the study is the structural-semantic and pragmatic features of the terms. Accordingly, the purpose of the article is to analyze terminology in semantic, syntagmatic and pragmatic aspects. The tasks can be formulated as follows: 1. Determine the structure of terminological units, find out from which components it is formed. 2. To identify how synonymy and ambiguity are inherent in terminology. 3. Identify the pragmatic component based on the structural components of the terms. The relevance of the study is due to the growing public interest in the aviation industry. The work was carried out using statistical methods, as well as methods of analysis and synthesis. The novelty of the research lies in the attempt to use a comprehensive (three aspects) approach to the study of a highly specialized group of terminological vocabulary. During the analysis, it was found that the terminology describing aircraft engines (types and design) is represented by multicomponent (mainly three- and four-component) terminological phrases. A number of syntactic models participate in their formation, each of which is one or another variant of the combination of adjectives, nouns and numerals. Adjectives, nouns and numerals should be recognized as carriers of terminological information that has pragmatic significance. This significance lies in the fact that information, being correctly orienting, guides specialists in their professional activities and promotes effective communication.

Abstract: The article is devoted to the consideration of the contextual environment of English military aviation terminology in professional texts. The purpose of this study is to determine which linguistic units surround the terms in the texts, what are the features of their compatibility with each other.
In accordance with this goal, the tasks can be formulated as follows: to determine in which texts military aviation terms appear, to distinguish from them those that should be classified as professional; to divide the terms of professional texts into groups according to their frequency; to determine which syntactic models are involved in the formation of the contextual environment of terminology and how productive they are. The novelty of the research lies in the fact that for the first time an attempt was made to analyze the contextual environment of military aviation terms simultaneously in several genres of professional texts. In the course of the work, methods of analysis, synthesis, comparison, as well as statistical methods were used.
Based on the results of the study, the author identified the main genres of professional texts in which military aviation terms function; analyzed structural and grammatical models of the formation of free and terminological phrases with terms, established the relationship between the frequency of terms and the diversity of their contextual environment. The results of the study can be used both in the practice of teaching aviation English, and in the practice of developing computer systems for recognizing terms in texts, as well as analyzing their compatibility.

Abstract: This article is dedicated to the linguistic context of functionality of the English military aviation terms in the journal “Rotor and Wing”. The goal lies in revealing the specificity of the linguistic context of functionality of the English military aviation terminology, as well as its structural, semantic and pragmatic characteristics in the journal “Rotor and Wing”. For achieving the set goal, the author aims to determine the most representative linguistic (stylistic, syntactic, grammatical, and lexical) peculiarities of the journal; which military aviation terms are most and least common for the journal; as well as structural, semantic and pragmatic characteristics of the terms. The novelty lies in comprehensive description of the English military aviation terminology (structural, semantic and pragmatic aspects) and its linguistic context in the professional journal. The research employs the analytical, comparative, and statistical methods. The author establishes the most significant syntactic, grammatical, stylistic, and lexical peculiarities of the journal; as well as structural (most terms are two-component phrases), semantic (presence of the absolute and conditional synonymous terms, absence of polysemy, and partial presence of antonyms), and pragmatic characteristics of military aviation terminology (terms fulfill the functions that are substantiated by the content and purpose of the journal. The acquired results can be used both in lexicographical practice (compiling the English-language dictionaries, thesauri, glossaries of military aviation terms), and in the practice of teaching the aviation English language.
