Abstract: This article is first to examine the question on gender stereotypes and gender inequality in the proverbs of Steppe Crimean Tatars at the turn of the XIX – XX centuries reflecting family relations. The subject of this research is the Crimean Tatar paroemiological fund of that time. Through the prism of male worldview are revealed the binoms “young man – young lady”, “fiancé – fiancée”, “husband – wife”, etc. The gender proverbs of Steppe Tatars are brought as an example. The main ideology of such proverbs is the threat to future emancipation of women, giving priority to the women, dominance in the family, substitution for androcentric worldview for gynocentric. Methodological and theoretical framework contains the compilations of Crimean Tatar paroemias of the turn of the XIX – XX centuries, dictionaries and scientific writings of the prominent literary scholars. The scientific novelty consists in studying the gender stereotypes and gender inequality within the framework of paremiological fund of the Steppe Crimean Tatars. Their proverbs of that time develop the stereotypes and reflect the standard vision of family relations in third person. The society of Steppe Crimean Tatars of the turn of the XIX – XX centuries supported the positions of androcentrism and masculinity as a defining behavioral type.
