Philarmonica is a scholarly music open-access journal that focuses on classical, jazz, and folk music. This peer-reviewed scientific journal (double-blind peer review) focuses on all aspects of the study of music as an art form, cultural phenomenon, and human activity.
The journal encompasses a broad spectrum of scholarly inquiries into compositions and composers, stylistic evolution, performance practices, music pedagogy, cultural formations, critical methodologies, and the institutional frameworks that shape musical life. Areas of interest include—but are not limited to—music history and historiography, theoretical and analytical studies, composition, aesthetics, ethnomusicology, and the multifaceted intersections of music with culture, society, and technology.
The Journal encourages interdisciplinary approaches that connect music scholarship with related fields such as literature, philosophy, cultural studies, and the performing arts. Submissions that challenge traditional boundaries, engage with contemporary theoretical perspectives, or reinterpret established works and composers are particularly welcome.
The Journal welcomes original research articles, analytical studies, performance-based research, and critical essays that address a wide range of topics.
