Abstract: The article analyzes the nature of modern Islam. The author reveals the causes of appearance of various Islamic movements and their role in politics. Certain attention is also paid at the basic ideas of these active Islamic movements and their evolutionary trends. The author also describes the sources of politicization of Islam.
