Abstract: The authors present an experimental study of the perception of an animated frame depending on age. The factors studied are composition, color scheme, and stylization. The article describes the algorithm for preparing the stimulus material and the experimental methodology. Frames from cartoons were used as the basis for the stimulus material. The stimulus material was designed so that it could be clearly divided into groups according to the factors studied. The composition factor – compositional solutions are distinguished according to three main principles – an object against a background, two equivalent objects, the main object, and an obvious subject. The color scheme factor is based on two color schemes – complementary contrast and triadic color scheme. The stylization factor – minimalism and highly detailed images. The experiment involved 40 students aged 18 to 25 and 15 children aged 12 to 18. Based on the obtained data, graphs were constructed showing the dependences of viewing pattern parameters on the properties of frame elements, which are presented in the article. The obtained results suggest a statistically significant effect of age on the perception of animated frames. Younger subjects required more time to complete the experimental task. A statistically significant effect of age on pupil size during viewing of animated frames was also found. Younger subjects had larger pupils during the task. These results can be useful in designing animated frames to enhance the expressiveness of a film. As part of their study of animation frame design methods, the authors hypothesize that the obtained results on the influence of animation frame properties on the perception of viewers of different ages may be relevant for designing animated frames in cartoon production.

Abstract: The research is aimed at studying the elements that affect the visual perception of the film frame in order to develop methodological recommendations for the process harmonization of the film frame. The object of research is a film frame. The subject of the research is the technology of film frame processing. The purpose of this work is to obtain experimental data of the film frame viewing pattern and to identify statistical patterns to confirm or refute the formulated hypothesis. The goal of the study is to conduct an experimental study of the influence of composition on the parameters of the film frame viewing pattern. The influence of the factor of the mutual ratio of the areas of the centers of interest to the background on the parameters of the template for viewing the stimulus material is investigated. As a result, the methodology has been developed for conducting experimental studies of human perception of visual information using an eye-tracking software and hardware complex. When analyzing data on the influence of the objects size factor. The results obtained show that under the condition that objects occupy a small area of the frame, the observer needs more time to consider this frame. As well as in the case when objects occupy most of the frame (more than 40%). In the first case, due to the small size of the objects, it becomes more difficult for the observer to find objects in the frame space. In the second case, it takes time to identify objects, since they tend to be perceived as a background due to their large size.

Abstract: In the article, the authors describe the developed and tested methodology for conducting a computational experiment to study the effect of color solutions on the visual perception of a video frame by the viewer. The developed technique is designed to assess the subjective emotional reaction of the viewer that occurs at the final stage of the human visual system when perceiving visual information. The article describes methods of preparation of stimulus material, methods of conducting an experiment using a developed software module located on a network resource. The authors have developed a methodology for conducting an experiment with online testing, the information structure of the database, a questionnaire for collecting information, the form of testing by the subjects, algorithms for statistical processing of the results of the experiment. This study is based on the results of a series of experiments conducted using a software and hardware complex for fixing oculomotor activity - an eye tracker, which allows obtaining objective parametric data of a template for viewing stimulus material. The technique described in the article is an addition to the experimental study using the eytracking technology. The results of the experiment should be used in the development of textbooks on color correction, as well as in the design of control interface elements.
The methodology is programmatically implemented and tested in the local network of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. It is planned to finalize the Internet survey module and conduct a global experiment with subsequent statistical processing of the results.
