Eliseeva, N. V. Dumb AbsurdAbstract: The article is devoted to the phenomenon of emotional numbness. The author studies trans-discursive grounds of this phenomenon which can be traced both in philosophy and Theatre of the Absurd. The author analyzes examples of communication breakthrough in Eugene Lenosko’s and Samuel Beckett’s playwrights. It is underlined that emotional depletion is becoming a serious problem of modern age; the author also describes a new research program of emotional development in the USA.
