Abstract: the article describes functioning and peculiarities of police system in Italy. The reasons of diversification between police and gendarmerie and within gendarmerie itself: between the Corps of carabineers and the Corps of Financial Guards. The author reveals the system of administration of police units and gendarmerie in Italy.
