Abstract: Review: the phenomenon of ethnicity is usually viewed in the social, cultural and psychological aspect. However, according to the author of the article, ethnicity can be analyzed as an anthropological problem. In that case, the phenomenon becomes part of the anthropological teaching. The author illustrated his idea with Kant’s views on the national character. Being a philosophical anthropologist, that German philosopher tried to find out how different peoples reacted to beautiful things and ideas
