Sherkova, T. A. Is personality historical?

Abstract: Life is constantly giving us difficult tasks when we have to choose a certain strategy. Quite often a personality is put on the “marginal” edge of life and has to face the classical choice, - to be or not to be. Noble Hamlet made his own existential choice and moved towards his fate, or the “core”. From the point of view of depth psychology, his path can be viewed as the way from the “marginal” zone (the unconscious) to the center (Ego). So Hamlet was on his way to the center but then he tragically died. This image of the hero and victim may appear in different forms and be performed by different personality types but it will always remain somewhere near or even inside our own personality.
