Abstract: The article briefly describes the events causing a conflict potential in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China. The author also considered the central authorities’ policy since 1949 and described the main peculiarities of Chinese national politics. The author also attempted to make a small prognosis about the consequences the conflict may have.
