Role of Monarchs and Priests in the History of Russia Based on archpriest Joannes Vostorgov’s worksAbstract: Up to the present works by a famous Orthodox missionary Jannes Vostorgov havn’t been sufficiently studied. The last senior priest of the Pokrovsky Cathedral of the Kremlin was executed by Bolsheviks in 1918. Supporting the monarchy of Russia, Joannes Vostorgov proposed his own conception of absolute supremacy based on realization of the Russian Orthodox idea through national identity. This article is devoted to the analysis of those historical and philosophical views.
