Abstract: The specific feature of the police organization in many state has always been inclusion of militarized formations into its structure. These specialized police forces were meant for crisis situations, when the regular police forces failed to suffice. Historically, in a number of Western European states (France, Italy, Spain) there are two types of such formations, and this article includes the detailed analysis of such formations.
