Abstract: This article is devoted to analysis of the issue of type of state and law within the context of theoretical and methodological criteria of legal science, based on typology of state and legal phenomena. The author reviews various criteria for the typologies of state and law, both traditional and non-traditional ones, with their use the author characterizes factors of development of states and legal systems. The author also formulates the ideas for the concept of further development of state and law.
