Abstract:
The article analyzes modern concepts of artificial intelligence. The author suggests distinguishing between two main ones: utopian and realistic; in the first, it is argued that it is possible to create machines that think like a person and even better than him, in the second, intelligence is presented as a kind of psychobiological computer. An excursion into the history of the development of artificial intelligence is made, within the framework of which three approaches are considered that have had a serious impact on the development of this phenomenon: the reducinalist approach, psychological and computer. Artificial intelligence is compared with natural intelligence, the latter is considered as a complex semiotic, cultural and social education, involving human communication, development, filiation of ideas and techniques. The conclusion is made and justified, according to which the utopian concept of artificial intelligence cannot be implemented, although efforts to implement it will continue for a long time. One of the arguments here are contradictions in the ethical interpretation of artificial intelligence, which is discussed in the form of a virtual dialogue between the author and the designer of modern robots. On the contrary, the realistic concept is implemented in the form of a permanent project. There are practically no anthropological claims in this concept, and the concept of intelligence is reduced here, i.e. intelligence means imitation of only those established intellectual processes that can be modeled and algorithmized, which is a necessary condition for programming.

Although I have works on the philosophy of technology (several books and even more articles), in previous years I have not considered the topic of artificial intelligence. If there is no such concept, then is the existence of many artificial intelligence concepts correct, and also how to explain such a multiplicity in this case? For example, L.S. Vygotsky in the 20s of the last century believed that the existence of several psychologies that explain the human psyche in different ways is unacceptable, while he proceeded from the natural science understanding and the ideal of cognition [13, pp. 44-54]. However, I show that he is wrong, because, firstly, psychology without contradictions and other problems cannot be brought under this ideal, and secondly, each version of psychology serves and provides a certain type of personality characteristic of the New European culture (and there are indeed several such types). As I show, the path from this idea to its realization took several centuries and assumed: "1) the interpretation of concepts as mathematical functions (Frege and Russell), which made it possible to designate individual statements with symbols and understand them as variables, 2) the reduction of all the meanings of statements to two main ones ? truth and falsity (Frege) and 3) the creation of truth tables based on two previous inventions (a kind of generative system), with the help of which an autonomous language of symbolic logic is built (Wittgenstein); 4) the construction of models of logical systems based on the axiomatic method" [10, p. 133] But there was also a serious fee for the reduction of thinking to mathematics: the reduction of an ordinary language statements in accordance with the artificial symbolic logic, limiting symbolic discourse to only typical cases, mathematical interpretation of events, reducing the functions of truth to two ? truth and falsity [10, pp. 138-139]. The whole can be understood if we reconstruct the situation and the problem that forced Plato to introduce new ideas about love, take into account the reaction of Athenian citizens who are accustomed to believe that love is caused by the gods of love (Aphrodite and Eros), (and Plato proceeded from the fact that an individual should choose whom to love), explain how in this way Plato came to new ideas about love, and who influenced him. I show that Plato in The Feast was guided by a new anthropological situation (he had in mind the needs of the emerging ancient personality) and solved the problem of the impossibility for the individual to love in the old social model of love. Namely, the whole, which makes it possible to rationally explain the structure, functioning and development of natural intelligence, includes not only the processes of thinking and creativity, which are modeled in a realistic concept, but also communication, within which these processes unfold, situations and problems that force new ideas to be created, mechanisms for solving these problems, reaction to new ones user perceptions, correction of these perceptions, changing conditions, situations and problems, forms of awareness and conceptualization. All this is conditioned in the communication of people, historically and culturally. Not only semiotics, language, and discursive constructions contribute to the creation of new forms and contents of intellectual activity, but also the personality with its feelings, relationships, and understanding of sociality. I do not claim priority in this case, only a more voluminous, detailed picture, a number of the characteristics of natural intelligence indicated here in comparison with artificial intelligence have already been indicated in the scientific literature. Ontological assumption. "The machine model of thinking assumes that all information about the world, everything that forms the basis of reasonable behavior, should, in principle, allow analysis in terms of a multitude of elements that are indifferent to situations" [2, p. 105]. Thus, everything that happens in the world can be represented as a set of facts, each of which logically does not depend on the others. 4. All the serious difficulties faced by AI developments can no longer be solved by increasing the speed and memory capacity. The refutation of the above-mentioned fundamental assumption of AI leaves no grounds for confidence in the possibility of modeling human behavior. And because of this, even the very appearance of the question of the possibility of the machine passing the Turing test will be superfluous" [6, pp. 129-131]. Ultimately, a normal program is also a tool (naturally, more complex), also a technique, but semiotic. The inability to implement the utopian concept of artificial intelligence does not mean doubt about the effectiveness and prospects of the realistic concept. There are practically no anthropological claims in this concept, and the concept of intelligence is reduced here, i.e. intelligence is understood as imitation of only those established intellectual processes that can be modeled and algorithmized, which is a necessary condition for programming [11, pp. 140-144]. With the development of artificial intelligence and the Internet, intelligence began to change rapidly. In addition to natural intelligence and development (they persist in many places in the conditions of solving traditional problems), programming, on the one hand, is gaining more and more influence, on the other hand, thinking, creativity and the filiation of ideas in the Internet environment. Although the utopian concept of artificial intelligence cannot be realized, it infects developers and users, encouraging them to work towards the implementation of such a concept. What does the long-term existence of the utopian concept of artificial intelligence mean? In general, we are dealing with a humanitarian and social situation, and therefore, as noted by Z. Bauman, with a variety of interpretations and the popularity (multiplicity) of the existence of a phenomenon (in this case, artificial intelligence) [1]. In my opinion, for example, the interpretation of thinking and creativity in biological terms leads to an epistemological impasse, but since there is a scientific community that shares biological views on man and sociality, attempts not just to create a neural computer, but also to reduce intelligence to the work of neurons will continue. Other interpretations of artificial intelligence and work on the creation of appropriate types of equipment will continue. "Recently," Efimov notes, "despite the successful development of science and technology in the field of artificial intelligence, researchers and engineers do not have a clear answer to the question of how to develop technologies in the future for the next decades. The reason is that the theoretical, methodological and philosophical foundations of such planning are very poorly developed. The relevance of K. Jaspers' thought remains entirely that “the whole future fate of a person depends on the way in which he subordinates the consequences of technical development and their impact on his life.” There are constant discrepancies in the forecasts for the creation of a General artificial intelligence. Computing power, which seemed to A. Turing sufficient to create a “thinking machine”, has long been achieved, the possibilities of creating, storing and transmitting information on the Internet exceed the wildest dreams of half a century ago. However, all these are only partial results, far from creating a General intelligence" [3, p. 5]. If the General artificial intelligence is understood as a utopian concept, then this project cannot be implemented in principle, but if it is realistic, then it has already been implemented and is developing as a "permanent project". At the same time, it is not difficult to predict that the project of realistic artificial intelligence will be refined more than once and even, perhaps, revised, however, still in the process of its implementation.

The author of the reviewed article, referring to the consideration of one of the most relevant and widely interesting problems – the problem of artificial intelligence, points out the dependence of the nature of the evaluation of developments in this area on one or another understanding of "intelligence" as such, since only the latter is able to act as a criterion for the success of any specific developments. However, intelligence (in the direct sense) is only one of the aspects of human creative activity, which is essentially what researchers are talking about when they pose the problem of creating artificial intelligence. And defining creativity and activity seems to be an even more difficult task. Analyzing the state of development of these problems, the author of the article rightly points out that the bearers of "optimistic" ideas about the possibilities of artificial intelligence, as a rule, do not adequately differentiate the characteristics of those tasks that computers or robots are already solving today. The main theoretical content of the article is presented in the form of characteristics of the approaches proposed to solve the problem of artificial intelligence. One of them (which the author calls reductionist in connection with its inherent reduction of logic to "calculus", that is, a kind of mathematics) goes back to the idea of Leibniz's "universal characteristic" (note that Leibniz's developments had a "reverse" influence on mathematics, giving rise to the so-called "logicism" in mathematics). It is opposed by a psychological approach based on the idea of an individual's abilities as a criterion for understanding intelligence and creativity (and here again it must be pointed out that the understanding of the soul as a "system of abilities" also goes back centuries, for example, it dominated the philosophical psychology of the 18th century). From it lies the path to the actual "computer" approach, convenient for solving programming and modeling problems. On the basis of these three approaches, the author argues, the so-called "realistic" concept of artificial intelligence was formed, in which the latter is understood as a "psychobiological computer". As far as the author's subsequent examples can be understood, he is inclined to believe that the "realism" in question in this case indicates a fundamental and ineradicable dependence of "machine" intelligence on "human" intelligence; "utopianism", in contrast to "realism", begins with the fact that this dependence is ignored: "Natural intelligence is a fundamentally anthropological, historical and cultural education. Therefore, it is not only law-like, but also singular. From this point of view, the expression "to train a computer, a robotic technique, an analytical system to think intelligently like a human being" is not meaningful, but as a utopian task. Artificial intelligence is an education that is fundamentally programmable and constructed, acting as a means, etc.". "If by General artificial intelligence we mean a utopian concept," the author summarizes his thoughts, "then this project cannot be implemented in principle, but if realistic, then it has already been implemented and is developing as a "permanent project".". There is no doubt that the reviewed article will arouse the interest of readers, however, before publication it is necessary to correct typos (for example, already in the first sentence), there are also some errors in punctuation. I recommend the article for publication in a scientific journal.
