Abstract:
The article is devoted to the study of the geopolitical image of Russia, namely the structurally filling elements - constructs. The geopolitical constructs characteristic of the Russian case are considered by the authors, both from the point of view of the geographical and spatial representation of the country, and from the position of the geopolitical processes in which Russia is included. The geographical-spatial component of the geopolitical image is revealed by the authors through the analysis of the classical constructs of geopolitics represented by the theories of X.Mackinder, N.Speakman, G. Vernadsky, Z.Brzezinski. The geo-economic, cultural and civilizational, status-political and conjectural components of the geopolitical image of Russia, which determine the system of representations and the geopolitical identity of the country, are analyzed in the work. The main conclusions of the work are formed from the analysis of the geopolitical image and consideration of its internal elements. The authors indicate the integral nature of the geopolitical image, the complexity of which is analyzed on the basis of each individual component. In the spatial and geographical plane, the idea of Russia's position in the "core" of the Eurasian continent is recognized as the main geopolitical construct. The geo-economic component is revealed through the geopolitical configuration of the core and periphery, in which Russia will only have to take its stable positions, depending on the future structure of the economy. The status component defines the Russian geopolitical image through the available official and unofficial (image component) elements. At the same time, the cultural and civilizational issue is the most ambitious in the context of the multiplicity of geopolitical constructs: for example, the authors consider the idea of Eurasianism in the structure of the geopolitical image.

Abstract:
This article analyzes the relevant requirements of national security in the field of culture, education and protection of personal information stated in the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation. The paradigm shift of national security has occurred. Russia conducts the new government policy of recognition of the primary role of culture, religious and ethical values, and realization of functions of the Russian language as the means of ensuring integrity of the country. The authors determine the promising trend of formation of “natural” patriotism in corporate culture. The variants of methodical and diagnostic developments for the formation of patriotism among students as a way of protection of personal information are proposed. The results of questionnaire-based survey of students of the Academy of EMERCOM of Russia are provided. The article claims that the phenomenon of patriotism, carrying a poly-paradigmatic character, should become an interdisciplinary subject of research. It necessities the advanced training of faculty members, namely in the military educational institutions, on cultivating “national” patriotism, which cannot be formed only from “above”. Modern political technologies of destruction of states are aimed at shifting aggression from military-geographical to information-network space. The battlefield in the consensual war becomes the mental sphere, self-consciousness of the people, national and cultural identity. Thus, there is a need for the development of new conceptual approaches in upbringing of younger generation, one of which is presented by the authors.

DOI: 10.25136/2409-7543.2018.6.27853 URL: https://en.nbpublish.com/library_read_article.php?id=27853
Abstract:
The subject of the research is ethno lookism interpreted as 'everyday' discriminatory practice that involve ethno-cultural groups with peculiar appearance. New aspects of human existence, in particular, 'digital environment', raise a question about psychological safety of an individual when he or she happens to be under the influence of discriminatory behavior caused by the influence of various factors. Thus, the author of the article emphasizes the need to analyze subjective and personality factors that influence the acceptance of ethno lookism and, consequently, on the definition of individual's psychological safety. The author offers the following hypothesis: acceptance or non-acceptance of ethno lookism may be the result of self-evaluations of one's appearance. The methods used by the author include 1)Test to evaluate the acceptance of discriminatory behavior of the Other when ethno-cultural groups are involved; 2) Appearance Self-Evaluation Test. The mathematical procedures included single-factor analysis of variance, T-criteria of paired samples, and Mann–Whitney U test. The research involved 66 young people from 25 to 35 years old, men constituted 36% and women constituted 64%. The main conclusions of the research: 1. The range of ethno lookism acceptance demonstrates that 25% of research participants have a high level of ethno lookism acceptance. These young people may be a threat for psychological safety of particular groups with a singular appearance. 2. The higher self-esteem and self-evaluation of young people towards their appearance are, the more tolerant they are to ethno lookism and the more frequent they determine the level of psychological safety in a group.

Radicalization as an individual process and a social phenomenon: foreign theories and Russian realities

DOI: 10.25136/2409-7543.2017.4.23724 URL: https://en.nbpublish.com/library_read_article.php?id=23724
Abstract:
The article adapts the foreign interdisciplinary approach to the phenomenon of radicalization for understanding contemporary Russian realities. Existing factors - precursors, promoting radicalization, are identified and analyzed from the standpoint of the system approach. Transformative learning theory is drawn from psychology to explain the processes taking place in the consciousness of an adult person during his/her transformation into a radical terrorist capable of violent actions. The foreign theories have a heuristic potential, but they are not properly represented in Russian-language studies. The article is written on the basis of an interdisciplinary approach using general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction.A. Wilner and C.-J. Dubouloz consider three precursors of the radicalization process in their study: socio-political alienation, deep religious identity as opposed to globalization and discontent with the foreign policy of the state. Socio-political factors are objective and projected onto the individual personal circumstances through the prism of his/her psychological characteristics and ideological convictions. It does not matter whether the reasons are subjective (problems in the family, the impossibility to realize personal aspirations, death, divorce, etc.) or objective (socioeconomic, political, ecological, etc.), psychological processes of rethinking and searching for new meaningful prospects in the conditions of instability. The key role in this process belongs to ideology in a broad sense, including religion, and the relevant values. Ideology allows an individual to talk about justice, evaluate events. Objective conditions - precursors or socio-political factors - affect the entire society, the information-ideological field is the same for all, but there is no complete radicalization. Everyone chooses from the proposed set of ideas those shaping or transforming their own worldview. Involvement in radical social groups and networks contributes to the perception of violent acts and terrorism. Understanding of the processes of personal transformation in the mind of an individual explains why people, using a unique combination of causes in each case, come to the same result - go on the path of violence, exposing themselves and their closed ones to danger. The radicalization theories explain the processes both in Western countries, in Africa, and in Russia and Asia, that's why we can conclude that they are universal.

Abstract:
The research object is a terrorist’s mind. The research subject is the basic socio-psychological universals, which, in the author’s opinion, are typical for the members of contemporary terrorist organizations. The results of Russian and foreign research in the sphere of analysis of terrorist activity demonstrate the ambiguity of interpretation of the motives of a contemporary terrorist. The purpose of the study is to analyze the methodological approaches to socio-psychological traits of a terrorist’s personality, synthesize the acquired results, and generalize, classify and unify them. The research methodology is based on general scientific methods of cognition: analysis and synthesis, the comparative and system methods. Special attention is given to the analysis of the materials of judicial and investigational practice and the polysemantic approaches to the cognition of the criminal psychology of terrorist nature. The author outlines and classifies social and psychological universals, which, in the author’s opinion, can be typical for the majority of individuals involved in terrorist organizations in Russia and abroad. Practical importance of the study consists in the provision of anti-terrorist agencies with new scientific data about the socio-psychological sphere of terrorism.
