Abstract:
The subject of this research is the reception of the image of the Soviet Union in the book “The Muses Are Heard" by the American writer Truman Capote. The perception of the image of “foreign” and “foreign culture” is one of the pressing problems within the modern literary studies. The goal of this work is to determine the peculiarities of literary-documentary resemblance of the image of “foreign” country based on the work “The Muses Are Heard”, which is synthetic in its genre nature. The conclusion is drawn on the genre affiliation of the book and the techniques of depicting the image of “foreign culture” therein. The novelty lies in the fact that the research of this literary work are of synoptic nature, and this article is the first attempt of revealing the specificity of the image of the USSR in this work. The author indicates that the specificity of the image of the Soviet Union in the work “The Muses Are Heard is largely determined by its complex literary-documentary nature. T. Capote sets the goal to debunk the stereotypical representations on the USSR, which have formed in the American national mentality. Moreover, the writer refers to the Soviet material as an aesthetic experiment associated with the creation of a peculiar literary-documentary narrative form. The image of the Soviet Union in the work is structured on the factual documentary basis – Capote directly observes the Soviet realities and interviews the Leningrad residents. At the same time, in creating the image of the USSR, T. Capote applies the artistic and cinematographic techniques: stylization of the narrative on behalf of the “naive narrator”, method of “gradual immersion”, cropping, “pointed camera” effect, retardation, and contrast.

The problem of identifying key semantic components in the abstracting of a scientific text
// Philology: scientific researches.
2021. ¹ 6.

DOI: 10.7256/2454-0749.2021.6.35856 URL: https://en.nbpublish.com/library_read_article.php?id=35856
Abstract:
The ever-increasing volume of scientific publications determines the high interest of researchers in abstracting as one of the ways to present the content of the source text in a concise form. This determines the relevance of this work, which discusses the problem of transition from the primary text to its abstract presentation. In particular, using the example of an English-language scientific article on social psychology, an attempt is made to study the criteria for identifying key semantic components in the process of abstracting at the stage of understanding the source text. A theoretical review of scientific papers covering the problem of abstracting a scientific text, as well as a comparative analysis of the source and secondary texts of the article under consideration, allowed us to formulate the main patterns of interpretation of the logical-semantic and discursive structure of the source text as one of the stages of the abstracting process. It was found that in the process of understanding the text, the recipient, analyzing the connections between statements, integrates them into a holistic semantic formation, based on his own assumptions about the possible functional purpose of this text fragment. At the end of the process of understanding the text, the recipient deduces knowledge about the communicative intention of the author of the text and the role of each of the sections of the text in its implementation. It seems that this knowledge becomes the basis for the formation of a propositional model of the source text, which serves as the basis for creating the text of the abstract.

Genre analysis of the text in the context of the structure and composition of the work of Sh. Selim "Shamil Alyadin, about charyks and a penknife"
// Philology: scientific researches.
2021. ¹ 6.

DOI: 10.7256/2454-0749.2021.6.35863 URL: https://en.nbpublish.com/library_read_article.php?id=35863
Abstract:
The relevance of the article is due to the lack of research in the field of genre analysis of the text in the context of structure and composition in the Crimean Tatar literature in general and on the example of the work of Sh. Selim "Shamil Alyadin, about charyks and a penknife" in particular. The subject of the study is a genre analysis of the text in the context of structure and composition on the example of the work under study. The purpose of this article is not an attempt to define any particular genre or its features in a work, which in this case is practically impossible, but an analysis of the relations of various literary and journalistic genres in the context of the structure and composition of the text under study. The main conclusions of the study are that in the work under study there is an "ambivalent" hybrid genre form of a deeply emotional diary of memories (essay) with a pronounced expression and literary-critical essay (article), with a clear logical methodology. Hidden genre forms of monologue, correspondence dialogue or discussion also manifest themselves in the text. The author enters, if not into a direct, then into a reflexive dialogue with his characters and the reader. The synthesis and interaction of different genre forms forms the originality of the work, focusing the reader's attention on the ethics of literary craft. If we talk about the general unifying genre of the work, then this is spiritual and intellectual prose. Thus, the analysis of the structural and compositional features of the work allowed us to identify important, although not absolute criteria for determining and interconnecting adjacent genres, which in turn made it possible to identify the main and auxiliary genre forms of the text under study.

The article employs the method of analysis of dictionary definitions, method of identification of meanings, and component analysis. Application of the method of interlingual comparison revealed common and distinctive components of the meaning, which are not evident in terms of intralingual analysis. The research relies on the data from electronic dictionaries. The novelty of this research consists in finding interlingual correspondences with varying degree of equivalence and differences among the verbs of slow movement in the English and Chuvash languages. The acquired results can be valuable in theory and practice of teaching English language of Russia-Chuvash audience, as well as for broadening linguistic horizon of the students.
