// Philology: scientific researches.
2012. ¹ 3.
P. 17-21.
URL: https://en.nbpublish.com/library_read_article.php?id=61459
Abstract:
The article is devoted to the main socio-cultural factors that influenced the formation of Virginia Woolf’s creative
method. The problems studied by the author of the article are quite topical and perspective as a part of cultural
interpretation of the process of ideological interactions between different spheres of culture. As a part of her research,
the author analyzed both critical works and prose written by Virginia Woolf. Based on this analysis the author concludes
that the narrative methods used by Virginia Wolf (such as stream of consciousness, inner monologue, intertextuality)
were formed under the influence of a whole complex of socio-cultural tendencies and art movement famous in early XX
century in Europe. Among the most significant factors influencing the formation of Virginia Woolf’s creative conceptions,
the author of the article underlines the literary dispute between the Edwardians and Georgian poets, European fancy
for Russian culture, the first wave of feministic ideas, psychoanalysis theory and certain concepts in life philosophy.
The author’s conclusions draw our attention at succession of ideas in culture and suggest further research of Virginia
Woolf’s creative influence on post-modernistic literature.
