Abstract:
The present study pertains to stylometry. There are cases when a writer who has achieved fame, for various reasons, begins to create under a different name, tries to write in a different manner and, at times, again succeeds in a new incarnation. Whether the author is able to significantly change the literary style inherent in him or it is impossible to escape from himself – our work is devoted to the study of this issue. The study is based on the analysis of what numerals are present in the texts of an author. It has been shown by several examples from English-, French- and Russian-language literature, that the use of numerals is an author's feature that manifests itself in all or most of the sufficiently long texts of a given author. We apply our approach to the works of Romain Gary, Boris Akunin (Grigori Chkhartishvili) and some other authors of interest for stylometry. The conclusions are drawn on the basis of hierarchical cluster analysis and supported by the Pearson's chi-squared test.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the study of the poetics of drama by Catherine II, the purpose of the work is to consider the author's strategies and tactics in the comedy "Seduced." Research interest in this play increased at the beginning of our century, which is confirmed by relevant publications, as well as attention to the terms "author's strategy" and "author's tactics." The concept of the author's strategy was substantiated by us in the work "Author's strategy as a literary category: methodological aspect" (2015). Three author's strategies were identified: bringing ideological opponents to clean water; protecting the younger generation from being seduced by Freemasons; the return of the owner of the house to the bosom of the family, his recognition of his ideological delusion, which, in turn, imply the use of author's tactics: A look at events from the outside - through the vision of what is happening by servants, Illogical behavior, Self-exposure, the Open Noble House, built on the rules of sincere communication, Trusting communication with the servant, Obedience of young heroines to the elders, Image of the head of the noble family as smart due to leaving the noble circle and neglect of noble duties, Showing the result of reading incorrect books, Showing the result of reading wrong books.

Abductive Speech Acts in Propaganda Discourse of the Great Britain
// Litera.

DOI: 10.25136/2409-8698.2018.1.25172 URL: https://en.nbpublish.com/library_read_article.php?id=25172
Abstract:
Being the discourse with a dominating manipulative intention, propaganda discourse uses a lot of speech acts with high manipulation potential. One of the kinds of speech acts is the abductive speech act described by Lyulina as the means of representing abductive thinking of a speech producer that contributes to a fuller undrestanding of necessary perlocutionary effect. According to the classification offered by the author of the research, most frequently the Great Britain propaganda discourse uses the following abductive speech acts: abductive speech acts with an informative component containing a metaphor; abductive speech acts with an informative component containing comparison, abductive speech acts with an informative component containing a phraseological unit or other fixed expression (proverb or saying). The subject of this research is the particular functions of abductive speech acts in propaganda discourse of the Great Britain. The research is based on the author's substantiation of the recipient-centered approach and intentional analysis as the main research method. The novelty of this research is caused by the fact that the author discovers and describes a special kind of manipulative speech acts as well as carries out an analysis of particular functions performed by these speech acts in propaganda discourse of the Great Britain based on the recipient-centered approach offered by the author. As a result of her research, Lyulina makes the following conclusions: abductive speech acts are very frequently used by famous politicians (20% of the overall number of manipulative speech acts being used); in most cases abductive speech acts trigger such manipulation targets as 'availability threshold' and the most significant physical manipulation targets (emotions, instincts, feelings).
