Abstract: The subject of this research is the peculiarities of utilization of paremiological linguistic means in the Russian and American political discourse. The goal consists in establishing linguistic status of paremiological means in the Russian and American political discourse. Based on the speeches of Russian and American politicians, the author demonstrates the use of paremias in political discourse and underlines their influential role. The article explores the peculiarities of utilization of different paremias in the political discourse, provides statistical data regarding the frequency of mainstreaming of different types of paremias in the Russian and American political discourse. Research methodology leans on regulations pertaining to categorization of the political world in the genres of political aphorism, as well as the methods of systematization and generalization, continuous sampling, discursive analysis, content analysis and statistical method. The results may be valuable of the courses of rhetoric and stylistics of the Russian and English languages. The scientific novelty consists in the fact that this research is first to demonstrate the linguistic statuses of paremias in the Russian and American political discourse from the perspective of their convincing and manipulative function.

Abstract: The subject of this article is the technique for development of lexical competence based on authentic texts on a specialty on the example of foreign language. The goal consists in systematization and approbation of the techniques for development of lexical competence based on the texts on a specialty in the nonlinguistic educational institution. The process of teaching technical vocabulary is inseparably related to main stages of the work with authentic technical texts. Emphasis is made on the communicative types of tasks contributing to the development of verbal skills and more efficient digestion of specialty vocabulary. An experiment was selected as methodology for this research. The article describes the key aspects of teaching technical foreign language in a nonlinguistic educational institution, as well as reveals the importance of formation of active vocabulary among the students of technical specialties. The novelty lies in systematization of comprehensive approach towards increasing the level of lexical competence among the students of nonlinguistic educational facilities based on authentic texts on a specialty. The application of authentic texts on a specialty for increasing lexical competence would contribute to the improvement of learning process of a foreign language.

Abstract: The subject of the research is the lexical completeness of a popular scientific text on psychology in terms of its translation. The extract analyzed by Guzova is a part of popular scientific book on psychology and has such functional and stylistic peculiarities as great compactness and briefness of language expression as well as standard nature of the language frame. The genre specifics of a text of this type may considerably influence the choice of translation strategies. That said, the researcher focuses on the means of translation of popular science texts. The specifics of the material under research and goals set by the researcher condition the use of research methods including elements of semantic, lexicographical and contextual analysis. Based on the analysis of the extract from Edward T. Hall's book 'The Hidden Dimension', for the first time in the academic literature the author carries out a complex analysis of popular science text on psychology from the point of view of its translation taking its genre specifics. The author describes means of translation of terms, realias, pseudointernational vocabulary and onomastic vocabulary.

Abstract: The subject of this research is student training program in non-linguistic universities aimed at sociocultural development. The goal of this work lies in composing the curriculum on increasing sociocultural development in teaching English language to future specialists in non-linguistic universities. The following types of oral activity are determined: listening-in, speech, reading and writing. Each block of the curriculum contains the types of activity that contribute to increasing sociocultural level of the students. The author examines the factors of students’ insufficient command of the English language (reluctance of students to psychologically identify themselves with the representatives of global community; unwillingness of pedagogues to implement the innovative teaching techniques; absence of the effective methodology for overcoming psychological issues in studying a foreign language). The scientific novelty consists in the proposal of comprehensive approach towards increasing sociocultural level of students based on all types of oral activity with consideration of professional orientation. It becomes evident that the properly prepared learning material and exercise program, which allow forming not only the communicative competence, but also increase raise the sociocultural level, alongside the teaching methodology are rather productive within the framework of foreign language education in non-linguistic university.
