Abstract: The object of this study is the process of marginalization. The subject is the marginalization of urban space. The aim of the paper is to actualize and clarify the essence of the process of urban space marginalization, as well as to identify the features of urban space marginalization using the example of Khabarovsk. The article employs methods of scientific-theoretical analysis, generalization, and systematization of domestic and foreign research on marginalization problems, as well as empirical methods such as surveys, expert interviews, and the method of vernacular zoning. The theoretical part of the article demonstrates a multitude of different approaches to defining marginality and marginalization, on the one hand, and the lack of stable definitions of these concepts, on the other. This is primarily explained by the lack of a comprehensive approach to the study of the marginalization process. To provide a more complete definition of the process of urban space marginalization, the article applies an algorithm: causes – essence – implementation – consequences. The practical significance of studying the marginalization of urban spaces is determined by the need to control marginal areas in terms of the spread of various social deviations, as well as the need to forecast marginalization trends. Based on empirical studies of urban space (using the example of Khabarovsk), the study of public and expert opinions, and the use of the method of vernacular zoning, the overall "well-being" of different vernacular districts of the city was determined, the level of income of city residents living in these districts was assessed, the correlation between the determination of the level of "well-being" and the crime rate of the district was revealed, as well as the features of the stigmatization of urban spaces, which is an integral part of the process of marginalization.

Abstract: The object of this research is the social threats and risks as the factors that impact the formation of Russia’s image of the future. The subject of this research is the public opinion of residents of the Far East – representatives of generations X, Y and Z on the current state and prospects of the Russian society. The goal consists in identification of peculiarities of the opinion among the representatives of different generations of residents of the Far East in determination of social risks caused by new external and internal threats in the context of creation of Russia’s image of the future. Leaning on the analysis of scientific theoretical sources and data of the own empirical research, the authors attempted to construct a universal image of the future of Russia, typical to the representatives of different generations of Russians. The novelty of this work lies in the analysis of public opinion of expressed by the representatives of different generations of residents of the Far East on the future of Russia, taking into account the risks and threats (in their perception), as well as in extrapolation of the results of empirical study upon the process of formation of Russia’s image of the future. The scientific value of the acquired results is defined by fact that determination of peculiarities of the worldview of different generations regarding Russia’s image of the future allows creating a generalized image that may become an integrating factor in the process of implementation of social activity of the Russian citizens. The practical importance is that the obtained result would help social scientists in their further theoretical research, forecasts and envisioning scenarios on the future of Russian society, and modern politicians – in elaboration of the projects of social reforms.

Abstract: The object of this research is the processes of social stigmatization (labeling); while the subjects is the territorial stigmatization of modern youth. The goal lies in determining the peculiarities of stigmatization of modern youth in the context of Far Eastern region. Special attention is dedicated to living conditions of the population in the Russian Far East, as the majority of population, and mostly youth, face the situation of social inequality and marginality in relation to the rest of the Russians. In such context, many young people pursue their desire to move from the Far Eastern region. At the first stage of research, the authors used the method of overt observation, which allowed acquiring primary information on the impact of stigma upon self-identification of young people. The authors also applied statistical method in the course of collecting materials; document analysis; sociological survey in form of questionnaire and interview. The sociological survey was conducted as a pilot study of the problems of stigmatization among the high schoolers and university students of Khabarovsk. The number of respondents totaled 145 individuals. Unstructured interview was carried out with the high schoolers of public schools in Khabarovsk and Komsomolsk-on-Amur. Territorial stigmatization has a certain conceptual ambivalence: on one hand, it negatively affects the process of socialization and social identification of youth in the Russian Far East, while on the other – it can serve as a motivation for making a conscious choice of their life strategy. The obtained results may be valuable in implementation of youth policy in the Far Eastern Federal District.
