Abstract: The article is devoted to analysis of evolution of machinery and its understanding. The author shows that in the New Age, the machinery was closely connected to sociality. The author discusses the ways to overcome the negative consequences of scientific and technical development, such as the re-evaluation of definitions of nature and engineering, connection of machinery and sociality, the need for personal activity of an individual and society.
